Minor League Baseball

-

Minor league baseball is one of sports' hidden gems. There are 246 minor league baseball teams in levels spanning from AAA, right below the majors, to below-Rookie league for the youngest, most inexperienced players. Minor League Baseball is separate from other independent baseball leagues like the Frontier League in that Minor League teams are directly affiliated with Major League franchises. Their goal is to build prospects into major league players. This is often forgotten in the frenzy of trades MLB teams make to improve their teams. It is often the teams with the best minor league systems that ultimately do the best. After all, prospects developed in the minors are younger, cost less, and already know the team's system.

This tri-state region is home to some of the minors' best ballparks and most successful teams. The parks in Indianapolis, Louisville, Dayton and Akron were all important to revitalizing their respective cities, and Cooper Stadium in Columbus is a historic gem.
